Canine Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation can be useful for patients with numerous different medical conditions. Our rehabilitation program utilizes multiple modalities, allowing us to create a plan specific for each patient.

The main goals of rehabilitation are to help reduce pain, restore function, minimize disuse atrophy, improve, or return mobility, prevent injuries, and promote quality of life.

Rehabilitation sessions could be beneficial to post-operative orthopedic patients, patients with orthopedic conditions (such as osteoarthritis and dysplasia), neurologic conditions, geriatric patients, overweight patients, and sporting/agility patients.

Modalities Utilized:

  • Cold laser therapy uses light to stimulate cell regeneration and increase blood circulation

  • Assisi loops can help improve blood circulation and swelling

  • Therapeutic exercises, such as the bosu ball seen to the right, can help to improve balance and proprioception while helping to strengthen muscles.

  • Underwater treadmill exercise can help patients strengthen their muscles without the same stress on their bones and joints, as the water takes most of the weight off of the patients legs.

  • Cavalleti pole exercises can help patients improve proprioception, flexors, and elongate their stride.

  • A stance analyzer that shows how much weight each leg is bearing, allowing us to track improvement and progress throughout their rehabilitation journey.
